Saturday afternoon, 5 young people including a DJ returning from festivities in Léogâne, were kidnapped by unidentified individuals, on the RN #2 road, near Mariani. The details of the kidnapping and the demands of the kidnappers are still unknown. Contraband : 2 trucks of goods seized

Friday, the Border Police (PoliFront) intercepted at Carrefour Chivry, Fort-Liberté (Northeast) 2 truck from the Dominican Republic loaded with goods not declared to Haitian customs. The 2 trucks, with their goods, were seized and 6 people who were on board the 2 trucks were arrested and handed over to the justice system.

To date, there have been 756 confirmed infected people outside China, or 161 more than the previous day (+27%), including 67 new cases aboard the cruise ship "Diamond Princess" in quarantine off Japan.

Number of deaths abroad (4) : 1 in the Philippines, 1 in Hong Kong, 1 in Japan and 1 in France.

President’s Day : Closed embassies

The Embassy of Haiti in Washington, D.C., will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2020 for the commemoration of "President’s Day" (Federal Leave).

The U.S. Embassy in Haiti will also be closed on February 17.
