Haiti - Education : Launch this week of the online teaching website «PRATIC»
Miloody Vincent Director of Communication of the Ministry of National Education accompanied by David Jeanty, Executive responsible for the development of programs for the Unit of Information Technology and Communication in Education (UTICE) announced that the Digital Resource Platform "PRATIC" educational and learning tools, with multimedia resources for preschool, fundamental, secondary and professional, will be officially launched during the week of April 13 to 17, 2020.

Let’s remember that the educational content is validated by the technical teaching departments and the UTICE, the body responsible for managing the file, operates the formatting and classification for users. This work is supported by technicians from the Information System Unit (USI), Educational TV Radio (RTE) and the Ministry's Communication Office.

For David Jeanty "this simple tool, easy to access after registration formalities, will meet the needs of each level of education with appropriate content facilitating progression in learning, in addition to courses led by experienced teachers and education professionals on the various themes of the fundamental, secondary and professional programs. Early learning activities will also be offered for preschoolers with a set of resources for toddlers.

Downloading educational content in audio, video, PowerPoint and computer graphics is free for all classes from preschool to high school through to the fundamental. It is enough for the child, whatever the time, to click on any subject to find a set of resources which can help him to learn from his home."

At the same time, courses will also be broadcast on radio and television in Port-au-Prince and in the regions. State media will be privileged but other private and community media will also be involved, added Miloody Vincent.

However, Vincent stressed in order to avoid any confusion or misinterpretation that "the students will not be evaluated after two or three months of online consultation in order to move from one class to another. We are not yet at this stage [...]" clarifying "it is only, at this phase, tools intended to allow the pursuit of learning activities in order to protect the right to education, despite this period difficult health crisis [...] Nevertheless, the pupil will be able to assess himself at the end of a learning activity."
