FLASH : Earthquake 5.5 to 30 km from Port-au-Prince

This Saturday morning April 18, 2020 at 9:14:07 am, an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on the Richter scale was recorded, not far from Gressier and Léogâne, at 18.45°N, 72.61°W, 30km at South-West of Port-au-Prince, 7 km South-East of Léogâne, at a depth of 121km. No damage reported by the municipal committees of the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC).

102 Gourdes for 1 US dollar

The Gourde continues to depreciate, Friday it took at least 102 gourdes, for the purchase of a US dollar in commercial banks.

USA : Health support of 13.2 million

The Government of the United States of America has decided to commit $13.2 million in health and humanitarian assistance to Haiti. This sum will support, among other things, awareness-raising activities, access to water and sanitation, infection prevention, Covid-19 case management, laboratories, etc. The United States has invested 1.8 billion in health in Haiti over the past 20 years.

Death of Mambo Annette Auguste

The Mambo (voodoo priestess) and political activist Annette Auguste alias "Sò Anne", died on the night of Thursday to Friday April 17, 2020, at the age of 80 years, at the Bernard Mevs hospital, from cancer. "I would like to associate my voice with that of my wife Sophia Martelly to salute the memory and celebrate the passage among us of Annette Auguste. The memory that I will keep of her is that of a fighter, a true political activist who showed boundless generosity towards the most deprived, this until her last fight against death 'Sò Ann ou nan kè no'" former President Michel Martelly.

The PM is waiting for the masks for the distribution

A BSEIPH delegation visiting Camp Lévèque

Saturday April 4, 2020, a delegation from the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH) led by Secretary of State Soinette Désir was visiting Camp Lévèque, locality of Cabaret where deaf people live, in view to make an inventory and to deepen the study of hydraulic works to allow the community of disabled people in Camp Lévèque to have access to drinking water. On this occasion, Mrs. Désir met with Josnel Exalus, President of the Association of the Deaf of Lévèque of Haiti around their various concerns. Food kits were handed to her for the benefit of members of the association.
