Haiti - Politic : The Joint Commission is awaiting the ratification of the Prime Minister of Haiti
Carlos Morales Troncoso, the Dominican Foreign Minister said that when the Prime Minister of Haiti will be ratified, the Bilateral Joint Commission will meet to discuss, without delay, about the problems of cholera and illegal immigration that affect the two nations.

Morales Troncoso has informed that he remained in contact with the authorities of public health in Haiti, which had reported a decrease in cases of cholera in their country. He insisted on the need for the health services in both countries, to be very careful and not to refer the matter.

A second point to be on the agenda is the sensitive issue of the illegal Haitian immigration in the Dominican Republic. On this point, Morales noted that the modernization of control of documents to the Directorate General of Immigration, should improve the situation "I must commend the excellent work being done by José Ricardo Taveras, the new Director of Immigration and the implementation of technology, in real time, allowing the control of all foreigners entering the country through the border."

For his part, Marino Vinicio Castillo, Dominican lawyer influential, consultant within the Government, said that the illegal Haitian migration in the Dominican Republic, was an evil that affects the Dominican Republic for many years. He indicated that he was necessary to provide documents to Haitians in the country, but with a status of foreigners and not as Dominican nationals..." "The big failure has been the hundreds of thousands of false cédulas [ID] issued since 25 years that allow to the illegal Haitians, to obtain a false identity "Dominican".
