Thursday morning, President Jovenel Moïse accompanied by his wife Martine and Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe went to the runway of Toussaint-Louverture International Airport to receive a first shipment of sanitary materials, part of an of $18.5 million spent by the Government to treat and combat the spread of Covid-19.

The cargo plane carrying these medical materials and equipment landed at Toussaint Louverture Airport at 9:16am

"The Haitian State has placed an order for 2,500 oxygen cylinders and 9 oxygen generators on the recommendation of the Multisectoral Commission for the management of Covid-19," said Moïse in the presence of Greta Roy Clément, the Minister of Health Public and members of the multisectoral commission against the Covid-19 which stressed that these medical equipment and materials are intended to protect the population against the Covid-19. Adding "The Haitian State has also placed an order for 114 million Gourdes of personal protective equipment to a Haitian company that has renounced its profits."

For her part, Minister Clément clarified that this first shipment consists of 500 full beds, 100 artificial respirators & accessories, 250,000 visors for medical staff, 200,000 surgical masks, 50,000 N95 masks for nursing staff and several thousand glasses protection, recalling that other personal protective equipment and medical materials are expected during other arrivals, during the month of May
