Haiti - Climate : The situation by department
Our country is confronted since a few days to heavy rains, here's a review of the situation by department according to information provided by the National System for Risk and Disaster Management (SNGRD).

For the department of Artibonite, the rain was intermittent throughout the department. No route blocked. A mobilization meeting was held at departmental level and awareness are strengthened.

For the Centre, a 14 year old girl was the victim of a landslide in Samanah, and a woman aged 60 has lost her life while crossing the river Thomonde. The structures of civil protection of the Department are mobilized and awareness actions are being strengthened through the department.

For the department of Grand Anse heavy rains accompanied by light winds have hit all the department Thursday. Some rivers are in flood: river Grand Anse, river Voldrogue, River Guinaudée, river Dame Marie. In Jérémie three houses were damaged due to flooding. 9 families are homeless (6 to Gommier and 3 in Jérémie). In Roseaux, the river Voldrogue and the river Roseaux are in flood, six houses were damaged (floods) to Gommier. he river Dame Marie is in flood. The structures of civil protection of the Department lead the assessment of damage.

In the Nippes, the downtown of Baradères was flooded up to one meter of water in some places. At Anse à Veau the Mayor confirms that the Grande-Rivière is in flood. At Petite Rivière ten houses were flooded in the village of Tamarin. The company Vorbes et Fils intervened to channel water. In Petit-Trou, there was a flood in the town of Carrefour Cadet, at the entrance of the city (1st section Raymond), 23 families were displaced in Downtown (7 families are housed in a temporary shelter opened in Agricultural Bureau and 16 families at the center of domestic economy). To Fond des Nègres the community of Pont Roche was partially flooded. In Azile the rivers Serpent and Despins are in flood. At Paillant the road conditions, already bad, worsened following the last three days of rain.

In the North no damage was found at this time.

The Department of North-east has seen much rain since Tuesday June 1, at the level of 13 municipalities. The monitoring of the situation continues and the civil protection structures are mobilized.

The Northwest has received intermittent rain on some communes of the Department. The monitoring of the situation continues and awareness actions are being strengthened through the department.

In the department of the West the rain started to fall on the department since Wednesday 1 June, in the evening. The water level rises intermittently at the level of the rivers and dry gully (metropolitan area and region). In Léogâne, the river Rouyonne is in flood, no major damage has been recorded at this time, floods have been reported at the level of this commune, the downtown, the localities of Bino, Dampus and Lompré were flooded. In Cité Soleil waters rose on the side of Wharf Jérémie. In Gressier waters rose in some localities. The communes continue to evaluate the situation.

In the South, to Chantal a gabionade has broken on a few meters and the waters of the river Chantal have penetrated into a part of the city. In Saint Jean du Sud 40 people were sheltered in the school Ti Coin, in the locality Abacou. There was no communication with the Ile à Vache. The monitoring of the situation continues and awareness actions are being strengthened through the department.

And in the department of South-east, in Marigot, the river Margot is in flood. To Côte-de-fer, the area between the second section of Palms and the 4th section of Cote de Fer, is impracticable. A minor landslide was recorded at the level of the city of Jacmel on the streets d'Orléans, which caused the collapse of a part of the back fence of the former premises of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. No loss of life or serious injuries were reported. Firefighters had to intervene in Jacmel for an assessment of the situation and recommend to the residents to evacuate the area during the rainy period.
