Haiti - Climate : The situation in the department of the West

Here is an overview of the situation in the department of the West according to information provided by the National System for Risk and Disaster Management (SNGRD). This article covers the highlights since June 6, 5 am until June 7, 1 am.

To Carrefour, people are in critical situation between Mariani and le Lambi. Tents were destroyed in the camp of the 2nd ruelle Raille. The zone of Rivière Froide is flooded.

To Cité Soleil, flooded houses, people on rooftops at Sarthe 55. Sarthe 49 is now a swampy area. At the level of the Route Raille the ravine is in flood, 12 people need emergency relief. Some flooding were recorded in the following areas: CTC MSF (France) Drouillard, Zone Barbancourt, Linthau 1 et 2 (Flooding and houses destroyed), Germain, Projet Drouillard, Ti Haïti, Warf Jérémie, Station Gonaïves and Fort Dimanche.

To Delmas the camps Accra, Cinéas, Camps 33 (population 14,000 people) are flooded. Houses have collapsed to Delmas 75 – Zone Faustin 1er - 2 people at risk: A woman and a child. 2 victims to Delmas 75. The zones of Zone Puits- Blain, Petite Place Cazeau, Cité Aux Cayes (Gully in flood), Zone Silo are flooded.

To Gressier, flood to Cité Estinvalle (including the Mayor's house) and in some camps.

To Pétion-Ville, 6 victims 3 to Jacquet Toto, Rue Chrétien - 3 to Pegguy-Ville (Collapse of a house - Action of clearing underway). Four injured to Pegguy Ville were transported by ambulance to the HUEH. to Girardo and Jacquet houses have collapsed. The zones of Nan Dieze, Rue Derenoncourt (Bouc Champagne), Brisetout, Pegguy Ville (Toucine), Vallée de Bourdon, Juvénat (Zone Union School) are flooded. The Route de Frères is blocked, landslide on the Rue Pan Américaine – Morne Lazare.

To Léogâne there is a beginning of flood.

To Port-au-Prince, 2 victims in the collapse of a house in Christ-Roi. Three injured in Christ-Roi (House collapsed), evacuated by the CRH/MSF Martissant. The zones of Ravine Pintade (downhill of water), Martissant 23, Vallée de Bourdon (Houses destroyed), Cité l’Eternel, Rue Capois, Rue O Durand as well as camps Théâtre National, Stade Sylvio Cator and Route Piste are flooded. Landslide at the level of Canapé Vert. The CTC of Centre Geskio is flooded.

To Tabarre, some people are in critical situation : Tabarre 47 et 14 (Impasse Salerme : People in danger); Clairecine 14 (Impasse Salerme : People in danger) and Claircine 22 (after the police station) a family can not leave their house (falling trees). The camps Terre Roche, Dortoir Aristide and Camps Tabarre 27 are flooded. The zones of Tabarre 27, 47, 48 (Zone Carradeux : Houses destroyed) and 52, Carrefour Rita, Clairecine 12, Parc Historique de la Canne à sucre, Clairecine – Zone La Colombe, locality Tapeau : Rivière Grise in flood (loss of house) and Croix-des-Missions : Poste Cazeau are also flooded. The center of MSF Tabarre is in the mud.
