Haiti - DR : The land border with Haiti, remains closed on the Dominican side

While on June 30, President Jovenel Moïse announced the gradual recovery of the national economy including the reopening of all its borders, on Wednesday, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, the Minister of Public Health at a press conference announced that the land border with Haiti will remain closed (as we indicated in our article https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31162-haiti-politic-jovenel-moise-announces-the-gradual-reopening-of-the-national-economy.html ).

He said that the next meeting of the High-level Commission for the control of Covid-19, according to the evolution of the situation, will determine additional precautionary measures for security at the border with Haiti and its possible reopening, without specifying the date of this meeting...

Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas said "The closure of the land border with Haiti is maintained for the moment, despite the opening of airports which entered into force on Wednesday", adding that the restriction measures which had already been established are maintained and that provincial offices had been reinforced with sufficient medical supplies to treat and control the spread of Covid-19 in the border area.

Regarding the adoption of the final border measures, Minister Cárdenas said that he awaited consultations with President Danilo Medina and with the commission.
