Haiti - FLASH : Explanation of the Ministry on the number of imported cases 06/07/2020 06:04:21
Imported cases : 99 cases (unchanged) previous (+42 over 4 days) Before the reopening of airports (July 1, 2020) the number of cases imported into Haiti was stable (57). Since the border reopened, it has increased to 99 (+42 cases), an increase of 73%. The Ministry of Health explains that the increase of 42 cases imported from Covid-19, recorded between July 1 and 4 would be attributable to 86% (36 cases) to cases from the Dominican Republic and 14% (6 cases) in from the United States. An explanation which is undoubtedly "politically correct" but which statistically is much less and which leaves the following question unanswered : How to explain that between March 16 (closing of the borders) and mid-June 2020 more than 57,000 Haitians (on the border points checked) returned to Haiti voluntarily from the Dominican Republic https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31118-haiti-dr-more-than-17-000-haitians-voluntarily-returned-to-the-country-in-2-weeks.html and that no case of imported Covid-19 has been declared...?
