Haiti - Politic : Resignation of the Minister of Youth and Sports
Less than a week after the end of his tour of sports infrastructure throughout the national territory Max Attys the Minister of Youth and Sports on Thursday July 16, 2020 sent his resignation letter to the Prime Minister and informed President Jovenel Moïse for of his decision.

This resignation comes after Minister Attys has denounced without detour or tongue in cheek at a press conference "[...] What we found as sports infrastructure is insignificant [...] many parks and sports centers that cost large sums do not meet our needs in this area and do not promote the rational practice of sport," adding that he noted that "several of these infrastructures are in poor condition or remain incomplete when the funds have been disbursed [...] It is unacceptable that the State spent hundreds of millions (PetroCaribe funds) and at the end, we do not even have a sports field worthy of the name [...] The money of the State which was to build sports centers across the country has been diverted [...] I think that public action must be put in motion," calling into question, the Martelly-Lamothe Government and the firms contracted both in Haiti and in the Dominican Republic ...

Minister Attys in his July 16 resignation letter dated July 16 July 16 wrote:

"Mr. Prime Minister,

I have the honor to present my compliments to you, and take this opportunity to thank you for having in harmony with the President of the Republic, call on me to support you in your delicate mission in the service of the State .

Prime Minister, I have endeavored to fulfill my responsibility, taking care in my duties as in my personal behavior, to always respect the requirements and the lines set by your Government.

Indeed, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that I have a very high idea of politics and the use that must be made of it to lead this country finally towards better horizons. And I, steeped in these ideals that define me, I can not give up, believing at the height of my being that the poison of the country is not in my approaches. Although I have the feeling of not having committed any failure. I have decided to resign from my office as Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action. [...]"
