Haiti - Security : Sabotage and vandalism at EDH

Earlier this week, Rockefeller Vincent the new Minister of Justice condemned in a note, with the greatest rigor, the targeted attacks against the premises and property of the State company Electricity of Haiti (EDH), affirming "For undermine the foundations of democracy and hamper the development of the country, of enemies of the State, of the republican order openly defied the rule of law by attacking the EDH facilities dearly acquired by the Haitian State," stressing that these acts of vandalism have the effect of disrupting all activities related to the production and distribution of electricity.

Minister Vincent informs that he has issued instructions to the police and judicial authorities, in particular the Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince in order to investigate and prosecute the individuals who sow trouble at the EDH, in order to restore order quickly and that the sponsors and all those who have perpetrated acts of sabotage against the infrastructure of the institution be prosecuted.

While welcoming the preventive presence of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in the premises of the EDH to protect State property, pending the results of the ongoing criminal investigation, Minister Vincent launches a call for dialogue to all sectors with a view to saving the common Fatherland against its enemies both inside and outside.
