Haiti - Justice : Land conflicts in Carriès, the PM announces concrete measures
On Friday, Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe met with residents of Carriès (commune of Arcahaie, Côte des Arcadins) where bandits, to appropriate land in the area, have been sowing panic, mourning and desolation for about four years.

Jouthe told residents that he had already issued instructions to Minister of Justice Rockfeller Vincent and Director General a.i. of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) Rameau Normil so that they act quickly to ensure the safety of the villagers. He assured that from Saturday the police station of the region will receive the necessary equipment including a car to pursue the bandits who after their crimes take refuge in the mountains.

In addition, he added that in the next few days, another checkpoint will be erected in order to strengthen police surveillance throughout the sector.

In addition, to put an end once and for all with the land conflict which caused for the majority of the inhabitants the loss of their houses, their small businesses and even school institutions which went up in smoke on June 17th https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30830-haiti-insecurity-land-conflicts-in-arcahaie-1-dead-and-many-damages.html he underlined that the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) has already proceeded to the land survey in the village and that by next week a second survey will be done so that each inhabitant can have a piece of land. "From now on these inhabitants will become farmers of the State, with papers in order for the use of the land" insisting "it is necessary that these inhabitants who are the main labor force in the hotels, return to their neighborhood."

Prime Minister Jouthe also indicated that on instructions from President Jovenel Moïse, he had already contacted Yvon Buissereth, the Director General of the Public Enterprise for the Promotion of Social Housing (EPPLS) for an evaluation of the homes of victims in the region set on fire or ransacked by outlaws ensuring that an EPPLS team will take care of the necessary follow-ups.
