Haiti - Economy : Return of Rhum Barbancourt to the SAQ
Good news! After eleven years of absence, the Rhum Barbancourt is again available in Quebec, on the shelves of the liquor store in Quebec (Société des alcools du Québec - SAQ). Only the 3 stars dark rum, aged 4 years [28.80 Canadian dollars] and Pango Rhum [28 Canadian dollars], the latest addition to the range Barbancourt, made from rum aged in oak barrels, blended with mango and pineapple, will be available in Quebec.
Rum Barbancourt was withdrawn from sale because it did not meet the requirements of Health Canada, although it was still available in many restaurants frequented by connoisseurs and nostalgic of Haiti and in many countries around the world "It appears that the manufacturing process has been modified, so that it is now possible to better control the rate of ethyl carbamate. The sample which was presented to us was in accordance with Health Canada" clarifies the SAQ, whose standards are the strictest in the world.
