Haiti - FLASH : The toll of storm Laura increases at least 20 dead and 5 missing
The Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) is revising upwards the number of victims of tropical storm Laura in its partial report published Monday evening which now stands at 20 deaths in the departments of South-East, West and from the South : Joshua H. Vincent, 10 months old, son of pediatrician Jessica Janniton washed away by the floods of August 23 in Tabarre 52 WAS found on Monday https://www.haitilibre.com/article-https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31620-haiti-storm-flash-9-dead-2-missing-and-extensive-damage-provisional-report.html 11 men and eight women and at least 5 people (2 children and 3 adults) are still missing.

4 people were injured in the West and South departments;

198 families are affected in the department of Nippes;

15 houses were destroyed, 135 damaged and 447 flooded;

"The Artibonite river is in flood, rapid assessments will continue and reconnaissance flights in helicopters are planned," said the DPC.

4 bridges were damaged making the southern coastal area inaccessible : Bridge Scipion, Bridge of Port-Salut, Bridge of Port-à-Piment and the one connecting Roche-à-Bateau, Coteaux and Chardonnières.

Damaged road sections : between Marigot and Belle-Anse; between Thiotte and Anse-à-Pitres; the Vallée and Bainet in the Tikita area. Road cut from Morne Lacet to Mare Briole; destruction of the footbridge on the Haitian-Dominican border at Anse-à-Pitres; the road linking the commune of La Victoire to Pignon is impassable.
