Haiti - USA : The House of Representatives voted the law renewing the provisions of the CBTPA
On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA) before its scheduled expiration on September 30, 2020, renewing trade preferences for Haiti and other Caribbean countries for the next 10 years.

It is now the turn of the Senate to rule on this bill which encourages trade between countries in the region. The Haitian Embassy in Washington will continue to work to ensure a favorable vote on this important legislation.

Recall that since its promulgation in 2000, this law has helped develop mutually beneficial trade between the United States and the Caribbean region, particularly with Haiti. This law requires the use of yarns and fabrics made in the United States or the Caribbean, which has made Haiti a major export market for American textiles.

As such, this law supports many textile, clothing and footwear jobs in the United States while advancing the economic development of the region. The program benefits from the support of the entire US textile and clothing supply chain, from US cotton and textile producers to apparel manufacturers and retailers.
