Haiti - FLASH : A student shot dead, smear of the Palace security officers ?
Friday afternoon a group of students from the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), an entity of the State University of Haiti (UEH), who peacefully demonstrated in front of the academic institution to demand the application of an agreement signed with the Ministry of Education concerning their internship and their appointment in public training establishments, was violently dispersed by agents of the General Security Unit of the National Palace (USGPN) who threw tear gas canisters and fired several times in the direction of students according to frightened and angry protesters.

It was during the dispersal in panic mode, that a student Grégory Saint-Hilaire aka "Greg" was fatally wounded by a bullet in the back, in the enclosure of the ENS where he sought to take refuge with friends. Several protesters accuse USGPN security officers of shooting their comrade...

Rushed by students to the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH) near the ENS, Grégory Saint-Hilaire had already died when he arrived in the emergency room, according to the Chief Resident of the HUEH Department of surgery.
