Haiti - FLASH : Towards the production of passports at the Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic

Monday morning during his meeting with representatives of the Haitian diaspora in Santo Domingo, Claude Joseph, the Minister of Foreign Affairs on mission in the Dominican Republic until December 6 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32400-haiti-diplomacy-high-level-haitian-mission-in-the-dominican-republic.html announced that Haitians will soon be able to obtain their passports produced on site at the Embassy of Haiti.

He explained that in order to eliminate the delays faced by compatriots (sometimes several months) for a first or a renewal of a passport, specialized equipment will arrive in the coming days and that it will no longer be necessary to send data in Haiti or Washington DC for the production of this important document.

In addition, Smith Augustin, the new Ambassador of Haiti in the Dominican Republic informed of a change in the recording of data for the production of the passport, which will now be carried out using digital and biometric equipment that will be installed at the Embassy.
