Haiti - Morocco : Moroccan trade and investments in Haiti under discussion in Rabat

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the general public that Chancellor Claude Joseph, at the head of the Haitian delegation, is on an official visit to Rabat (capital of the Kingdom of Morocco).

He had an important working meeting with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, around themes of interest to the relations between the two countries. The two Chancellors agreed on the need to work together to strengthen and deepen bilateral cooperation.

In addition to customs, cultural and educational cooperation, several areas such as agriculture, energy and capacity building have been identified to expand cooperation between Haiti and Morocco.

The prospect of opening a Haitian diplomatic mission in Morocco and vice versa was also mentioned.

The Haitian delegation met with officials from the Government Office for Vocational Training and Work Promotion (OFPPT), which trains more than 80% of technicians in the Kingdom. Prospects for cooperation between the OFPPT and Haitian structures involved in vocational training are envisaged. A basic cooperation agreement is in progress and a delegation from the General Directorate of the OFPPT is expected shortly in Haiti.

In addition, the delegation visited the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM-MA) to discuss Moroccan trade and investment in Haiti. Note that the CGEM-MA brings together 33 sectoral federations and 90,000 Moroccan companies and will strengthen its relations with Haitian employers.
