Haiti - UEH : Opening of a university mental health clinic at the Faculty of Ethnology
The Faculty of Ethnology (FE) of the State University of Haiti (UEH) proceeded the past week to the opening of a university mental health clinic called "Clini-FE" to serve the population. This is the first mental health clinic open within the UEH.

The main objective of the Clini-FE is to allow people with mental difficulties to have a space of care or even support by a team of professionals to meet their needs.

According to Professor Claude Mane Das, Dean of the Faculty, if such an initiative is part of the community services offered by the Faculty of Ethnology, it also serves to bring theory and practice closer together by serving as a internship space for psychology students at the Faculty of Ethnology.

For his part, Professor Jean-Robert Chery, Director of the Department of Psychology at FE, recalled that "mental suffering is significant in certain communities in Haiti, especially in the current social context" and that this clinic will help to "alleviate psychological suffering and tackle certain problems within the communities through psychological interventions."

The clinic will be open from Tuesday to Saturday. A team of experienced psychologists and professors at the Faculty of Ethnology are available for consultations and support within said faculty. The reception will be provided by the associations of students in psychology : "Allopsy" and "Psy act."

Elsewhere, Dean Claude Mane Das was very optimistic about the outcomes of the clinic. He was also satisfied with the dynamic that is developing within the faculty currently underlining "[...] we can say that this initiative heralds a new era within the faculty [...] An era where the emphasis is placed on the quality of training," recalling that the Faculty of Ethnology is a university center of excellence which must reconnect with its vocation.
