On Sunday, agents from several specialized units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) carried out a major muscular operation in the very base of the "400 mawozo" gang. An operation which aims to dismantle this gang which sows terror in particular in the communes of Croix-des-Bouquets, Ganthier and Thomazeau.

According to divisional inspector Gary Desrosiers, spokesperson for the PNH, 15 members of this gang were arrested, 4 stolen vehicles recovered during the search of the house in which members of the gang lived, a house which was demolished after the search on the orders of the police.

With the operation still ongoing, the spokesperson remained silent on details, only stressing that there had been a lot of armed clashes and vowed to tell everything on Monday, December 28.

I salute the large and successful police operation which continues in the stronghold of '400 Mawozo'. The armed gangs will have no respite. Formal instructions were given to the PNH to rehabilitate the healthy population in their rights to go about their business in complete safety," declared Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe.

For his part, Rockefeller Vincent, the Minister of Justice informed "The PNH is on maximum alert until all the bandits are neutralized and referred. The successful operation of the PNH conducted against the 400 marozo gang demonstrates our determination to eradicate insecurity. Full support to our valiant police officers."
