Haiti - Invitation : Commemoration on the Internet (FOKAL)
On this January 12, commemoration day of the 2010 earthquake, Haiti remembers in this circumstance, Michèle Duvivier Pierre-Louis, President of the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL) declared "[...] For me what is important is that this date does not pass like that, like a banal date. So we have to commemorate, we have to remember that there are people close to us who died, that there are people we do not know who died, that there are Haitians. and Haitian women who died and that cannot be forgotten..."

FOKAL recalls that on January 12, 2010, 4:53 am, Haiti was violently struck by a deadly earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale which left more than 200,000 families in mourning and injured countless people.

11 years later, in Port-au-Prince, devastated and abandoned neighborhoods still bear witness to the scale of the disaster that destroyed the capital.

Since 2012, the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation-FOKAL commemorates this date of January 12 at Martissant Park where a memorial is erected in memory of the missing.

It is also important not to forget this tragic day, officially declared "National Day of Reflection and Awareness on Haiti's Vulnerability in the Face of Risks and Disasters", to raise awareness among the population and remind people that we are not immune to the large-scale earthquake risks and their deadly consequences.

11 years later... The world is weakening, Haiti goes from crisis to crisis. This year, due to the dual context of health and security crises, to commemorate the eleventh anniversary of the earthquake, instead of a face-to-face ceremony, FOKAL and the Parc de Martissant are offering this Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 4:53 am sharp, a broadcast in line entitled "Live here, Inhabit the world".

11 years later... Where are we ? What have we been through ? The program "Vivre ici, Habiter le monde", filmed at Maison Dufort, draws a journey that combines films, songs and texts, the common thread of which is a conversation between Michèle Duvivier Pierre-Louis, President of FOKAL and young people artists. (Realization Pierre Michel Jean and Réginald Louissaint Junior - Editing and mixing Patrick Amazan and Stéphane Vernet Augustin - Artistic direction and production direction Michèle Lemoine assisted by Gary Lubin.)

This journey attempts to nourish memory, to evoke a balance sheet, to provoke reflection and to outline paths towards a possible transformation.

This commemoration, this Tuesday, January 12 at 4:53 p.m., can be followed on the Facebook page and on the YouTube channel FOKAL, as well as on all the pages of its online distribution partners.
