Pastor Alexis released against ransom :
Pastor Pierre Rebert Alexis kidnapped on January 28, as well as 2 of his faithful were released early in the morning of February 1, 2021 by their captors after paying a ransom.

First day of public transport strike
Monday, the first day of strike launched by several public transport unions to protest against the kidnappings, public transport vehicles were scarce. Schools were closed as were most businesses including banks. Only motorcycle taxis were still in operation.
