Intervention of RNDDH : Reacting to this arrest, the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH) immediately took up the defense of the former mayor and asked the Dominican Government to grant political asylum to the former mayor of Port au Prince In a letter addressed to the Dominican Chancellor Roberto Álvarez, the RNDDH explains that at present, a wave of persecutions against the political opposition is developing in Haiti "[...] with the obvious objective of sowing terror among the population and to establish a state of siege in the country. Faced with this situation and fearing for his life, Ralph Youri Chevry, was forced to take refuge in Dominican territory. [3...] Until democracy is restored in Haiti".
