Covid-19, one year later

One year after the first 2 cases of the new Covid-19 coronavirus were confirmed positive by the National Public Health Laboratory of the Ministry of Public Health https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30310-haiti-flash-2-cases-of-covid-19-confirmed-in-the-country.html the virus is still circulating in the country with a peak reached towards the end of May 2020. Since these first 2 cases Haiti has recorded 12,714 confirmed cases, 1,838 hospitalized, 10,612 people cured and 251 deaths. The latest epidemiological data show a marked decrease in the latter. Overall, Haiti has not suffered as many deaths or severe cases as we expected without still having enough scientific data to explain this state of affairs, informs Marie Gréta Roy Clément, the Minister of Public Health and Population.

PNH : Fire in the dormitories

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) believes that education is a factor of equalization and empowerment, providing children and youth with the skills they need for life and work. However, students with disabilities often face barriers in accessing education, which is why USAID is working with Haitian researcher Dr. Rochambeau Lainy to increase inclusive education in Haiti. An estimated 3.5% of the 120,000 children with disabilities in Port-au-Prince have access to education.
