Haiti - Economy : Slight drop in inflation in February
The General Consumer Price Index (IPC base 100, 2017-2018 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26268-haiti-economy-a-new-index-of-consumer-prices-more-efficient.html which stood at 162.0 in January 2021 hhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33188-haiti-economy-inflation-drops-by-half-a-point-to-187-january-2021.html rose to 163.7 in February 2021 shows monthly deceleration of -1.1% and inflation of 17.9% (-0.8%) on an annual basis against + 1.2% in January and inflation on an annual basis of 18.7% (-0.5%)

The monthly increase observed in December is the result of the behavior of the consumption indices:

"Food products and non-alcoholic drinks" : (+ 1.4% over one month and 21.6% over one year);
"Articles of clothing and footwear" (1.1% over one month and 20.3% over one year);
"Furniture, household items and routine household maintenance" (1.1% over one month and 16.1% over one year)
"Health" (1.4% over one month and 28% over one year).

The products which recorded the most pronounced annual inflation are :

Food :
Local rice (17.1%), imported rice (16.7%), ground corn (14.6%), bread (19.2%), goat meat (27.8%), chicken (21.5%), banana (33.0%) and dry peas ( 29.4%).

Articles of clothing and footwear :
Fabric (23.9%), dress (20.0%) and shirt (19.8%).

Furniture, household items and routine household maintenance :
Living room (21.5%) and dining room (23.4%) furniture.

Health :
Medicines (30.4%)

It should be noted that the Consumer Price Index for local products has varied by 17.7% on an annual basis, against 18.3% for imported products.

Health: month + 1.4%, year + 28.0%
Transport: month + 0.3%, year + 6.2%
Communications: month + 0.1%, year + 3.3%
Leisure: month + 1.0%, year + 12.3%
Education: month () year + 10.9%
Restaurants: month (), year + 19.8%
Miscellaneous goods and services: month + 0.8%, year + 16.1%

IPC by geographic region (January 2021) :

In the regions, increases in the CPI are observed in all geographic regions of the country. However, the most significant variations are recorded in the regions: Metropolitan Area (18.4%), Reste-Ouest (18.1%) and North (17.4%).

Metropolitan area: month + 1.0%, year + 18.4%
(Port-au-Prince, Delmas, Pétion-ville, Carrefour and Croix des Bouquet);

Rest West: month + 1.1%, year + 18.1%
(Departments of the Southeast and the West without the metropolitan area);

North: month + 1.1%, year + 17.4%
(Department of North, North East and North West);

South: month + 1.2%, year + 17.2%
(Department of South, Grande-Anse and Nippes);

Cross-sectional: month + 1.2%, year + 18.1%
(Department of Center and Artibonite).
