Haiti - Justice : CEP - Public Prosecutor's Office of Port-au-Prince (5-0) 15/07/2011 11:36:15 Gaillot Dorsinvil, the President of the CEP, said [once again] in a letter sent by his lawyer, Me Renold Georges, that the convocation of an electoral adviser is not within the jurisdiction of the prosecution, relying on Article 195 of the Constitution in force, he explains that an electoral adviser has to answer only before the High Court of Justice. The Adviser, Ribel Pierre has preferred be represented by his lawyer Me Franck Wisney Jean-François who protested vigorously against the charge of conspiracy brought against his client. He justified the absence of his client, as the lawyer of Gaillot Dorsinvil, by the fact that the prosecution has no legal authority to interview or prosecute the members of the CEP. Me Jean-François nevertheless says that his client wants to be cooperative and is available to the Public Prosecutor [?]... The Government Commissioner, declined to comment on these absence ... He promised to intervene in a press briefing to explain the purpose of the convocation and the refusal to appear without specifying a date for explanations... Although the Senate Committee of Inquiry on the corruption and fraud within the CEP has finalized its report, the commission members, refuse to make disclosure of the investigation before the official presentation of the report before the Assembly of senators, at an unspecified date...
