Haiti - Canada : Excellence Scholarships for the Haitian Community of Outaouais

The University of Ottawa offers an Excellence scholarship program for the Haitian community of the Outaouais. This is the "Firmin-Monestine" scholarship which aims to encourage excellence among Canadian citizens of the Haitian Community of Outaouais and among graduates of secondary schools in Mattawa (Ontario).

The objective is to provide financial assistance to Canadian students enrolled at the University of Ottawa and coming from the Haitian community of the Outaouais, or having obtained their high school diploma in Mattawa.

Sholarship details :

Eligibility criteria :

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;

  • Be registered full time at the University of Ottawa;

  • Demonstrate academic excellence;

  • Be a member of the Haitian Community of Outaouais

    or

    having obtained their high school diploma from Élisabeth Bruyère Catholic High School or F.J. McElligott Secondary School, in Mattawa, Ontario;

  • Demonstrate active or future participation in Haitian cultural or socio-community life.

Amount of the scholarship : Variable, depending on the income generated by the fund and at the discretion of the Steering Committee

Number of scholarships : Variable, depending on the income generated by the fund and at the discretion of the Steering Committee

Frequency of the scholarship : Annual

Scholarship level : Undergraduate and graduate

Deadline : October 31, 2021

Application :

The scholarship application must be submitted through Online Scholarships, accessible once logged in at: https://bourses.uottawa.ca and must include :

  • A copy of the candidate's high school transcript;

  • An essay (250 to 500 words) demonstrating the candidate's active or future participation in Haitian cultural or socio-community life.
