On Monday, the acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph, met, by videoconference, with the members of the Scientific Unit for the management of the Coronavirus crisis in Haiti. Monday in the Council of Ministers following the recommendations of the scientific unit, the Government plans to extend beyond 8 days the state of health emergency provided for in the order of May 22 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33811-haiti-covid-19-state-of-health-emergency-text-of-the-order.html . Specifying that the situation will also require the strengthening of health measures to fight against the spread of Covid-19 and its variants (English "Alpha" and Brazilians "Gamma"), including the curfew and the limitation of gatherings of people among others, unpopular measures but essential in the cisconstance.

With the sharp rise in new Covid cases and deaths, Prime Minister Jospeh does not hesitate to call the situation alarming.

Dr Lauré Adrien Director General of the Ministry informs that according to the data reported by the institutions and that collected by the Ministry, there is a strong upward trend in severe cases, complications and consequently deaths.

Cause of this sudden and intense rebound in Covid cases, Saint Luc hospital informed the population on Sunday May 31 that its acute respiratory infection treatment unit receiving Covid-19 cases had reached its saturation level and invited the population to go to other care centers.

For its part, the Ministry of National Education informs the educational community in general and the directors of schools, in particular, that it has been decided to prohibit graduation ceremonies until further notice, end-of-year celebrations and recreational days in all schools in the Republic.
