Haiti - FLASH : 5 police stations attacked by bandits in less than 24 hours
On Saturday 5 June around 10 p.m., in the commune of Cité Soleil, heavily armed individuals simultaneously stormed four police stations in Duvivier, Sierra 2, Station Gonaïves and Drouillard.

During the attack on the Drouillard Police station, Inspector Myradel ADOLPHE was shot dead and a policeman, Fedlin Luc, was injured. The bandits left with a booty that included 13 12-gauge rifles, 4 Galil assault rifles, a T-65 assault rifle, and communications equipment.

Sunday during a joint press briefing Léon Charles the Director General ai of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) accompanied by Prime Minister ai Claude Joseph condemned the gunshot assassination of Divisional Inspector Myradel Adolphe during a armed attack perpetrated against the Drouillard police station. He also denounced the attack on the La Saline sub-police station on Sunday 6 June.

Léon Charles calls on all law enforcement officers to mobilize in order to defend themselves and protect the population against the murderous assaults of bandits. He said that police will be deployed on the Martissant/Mariani highway and will be present in the streets to allow the population to go about their daily activities serenely.

Reacting to the attacks, Justice Minister Rockefeller Vincent said, "I learned with dismay of the assassination of Divisional Inspector Adolphe Myradel yesterday at the Drouillard Police station in full swing. I extend my condolences to his family and to his brothers in arms. This crime will not go unpunished. The DG of the PNH was formally instructed to take all legal steps to strengthen the police stations and put the gangs out of harm's way [...]"

For its part, the Office for the Protection of the Citizen deplores the fact that police stations and sub-police stations are the target of bandits against police officers lacking adequate equipment to defend themselves against this type of criminals.
