Haiti - COVID-19 : Important meeting on the health emergency at Toussaint Louverture airport

Tuesday June 8, following the decree of May 2021 declaring the state of health emergency throughout the national territory https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33870-haiti-covid-state-of-health-emergency-renewed-for-15-days.html in order to contain the spread of cases of Covid-19 and its variants in Haiti, the "task force" working on airports, set up by the Government since the start of the pandemic, met by videoconference in order to take stock of the evolution of the health situation with all the operators of the Toussaint Louverture international airport and the representatives of the National Airport Authority (AAN) and the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC).

On the agenda : strengthening health measures within airports (such as wearing a mask, social distancing and disinfection of the premises).

It was agreed on a greater presence of agents from the Ministry of Health in the departure and arrival areas as well as more rigorous control of the Covid tests presented by passengers at the airline counters, in order to resolve the problems caused by false negative tests presented by certain passengers.

In addition, airline operators suggest the acceleration of the unique format of test results or the presence of a "bar code" mentioned by the Ministry of Health that could possibly allow the constitution of a database and a monitoring of positive coronavirus cases identified from laboratories.

This virtual meeting was attended by representatives of the MSPP, Dr Katilla Pierre, OFNAC, AAN and all airlines operating in Haiti.

Remember that this "task force" is made up of Mrs. Myriam Jean, Minister of Tourism, Guy François Junior, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Citizenship and Patriotism and Louis Gonzague Edner Day, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad.
