Haiti - Politic : After the confrontation, Martelly seeks a final compromise...
After a policy of confrontation, Martelly seeks a final compromise while his Prime Minister-designate, Me Bernard Gousse, should in principle make file his documents of candidacy, postponed twice, tomorrow Thursday.

After going on the offensive against the Group of 16 Senators (G16) who have declared publicly opposed to the candidacy of Me Gousse, during his tour of two days in the Southeast, last weekend, the Head of State has multiplied in recent hours the initiatives in order to try to convince the Senators of the G16 to reconsider their position, thus he goes from the offensive to a final attempt of compromise to avoid another failure of ratification. The President is willing to meet with the Senators of the G16.

Divided on the opportunity or not to discuss about the chances of ratification, the G16 remains firm on its position, but does not reject a meeting with the President of the Republic.

Kély Bastien, former President of the Senate is ready to meet Martelly, without considering a change in his position "Talk with the Head of State does not mean denying our position [anti-Gousse]" The Senator minimizes the risk of volte face of some Senator in the G16, as some rumors suggested.

More radical, Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé, who describes the Prime Minister designate of "page turned," does not intend to reverse his position, even if he agrees to discuss with the President of the Republic.

Last Sunday, the President Martelly has estimated publicly, to have the support of 50% of the Senate, however, the Senator Mélius Hyppolite is more cautious saying that the Pro-Gousse are only 13 in the Senate. He urges the Head of State to dialogue with the G16 in order to reach a compromise and avoid rejection of the second Prime Minister-designate which would add further delays in the formation of the Government.

Steven Benoit who did not attend any meeting of negotiations for the ratification of Me Gousse, ensures that he will vote for the choice of the President, if the documents of Me Gousse meet the requirements of the Constitution. He hoped that the President can find common ground with the G16, to enable the country to have a government as soon as possible.
