Hospitals : wastewater treatment
The American Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) is proud to support UNICEF Haiti in the construction of wastewater treatment plants for St-Luc hospitals and Hopital Albert Schweitzer Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33791-haiti-health-two-hospitals-in-haiti-with-a-wastewater-treatment-plant.html. The station at St Luc's Hospital treats up to 20,000 gallons of sewage per day, which is well over the 5,000 gallons per day that the hospital was previously capable of handling. Rehabilitating these stations eliminates the cumbersome operational logistics and transportation costs associated with delivering excess wastewater to remote treatment facilities and promotes a healthier hospital environment for patients and the community at large.
