Due to the climate of insecurity and areas controlled by gangs, the outsourcing sector again lost thousands of jobs this week.

Wilhelm Lemke, President of the Council of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH) explains in a note dated June 29, 2021, "[...] The Textile industry, the largest provider of jobs in the formal private sector, which lost nearly 5,000 jobs last year, with the closure of 'H&H Apparel SA' in Carrefour, 'Elansia SA' and 'Interamericain Wovens SA' in Port-au-Prince, just lost 2,200 jobs this week. Other factories are at risk of having to shut down their activities in the near future due to insecurity and recurring fuel shortages."

ADIH says it is "[...] alarmed by the pace of the socio-political and economic crisis that the country is experiencing, which is characterized by : the deterioration of the security situation, the lack of dialogue, the gradual loss of control of certain geographical areas including Martissant, Lower Delmas, Cité Soleil, Croix-des-Bouquets, etc... She vehemently deplores these disturbances which plunge the country into unprecedented chaos."

Wilhelm Lemke underlines "[...] for lack of logistical, security and financial means, a number of companies fall into bankruptcy and are forced to dismiss their staff, thus placing hundreds of families in very precarious conditions, aggravating the situation oàf overall poverty in the country. Because the loss of jobs is an obstacle to the economic recovery essential to any sustainable development ."
