Nurse killed by stray bullet

On Monday, a nurse, Virgile Lorna Rose Fils-Aimé, was killed by a stray bullet in Martissant as she was crossing the neighborhood in an ambulance.

3 days of national mourning

Dom. Rep. : Seizure of more than 100kg of marijuana from Haiti

On Sunday, members of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT) seized 109 kg of marijuana contained in 25 bullets. According to the authorities' report, the packages were being carried by several people on foot from Haiti, who left the narcotics on site to flee to Haiti, when they were discovered by a patrol of Dominican soldiers.

43 Haitian boat people intercepted

Sunday morning July 4, the Coastal Radar Monitoring Center reported the presence of an illegal vessel in the territorial waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands, south of the island of Providenciale. Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police officers attended the scene and intercepted the vessel carrying 43 Haitian illegal migrants (34 men, 8 women and 1 minor) on board, which was returned to the immigration service for processing and repatriation.
