Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL), launched in 2008 in Martissant, a scholarship program for the benefit of children enrolled in 10 educational institutions in the area. 251 children [142 girls and 109] have benefited. These scholarships cover tuition fees, examination fees and school fees of the year.

Articulated on the academic excellence of scholarship whose families are in a precarious economy, the scholarship program has experienced a great success, because the success rate this year range from 85% to 100% depending on the school . To this we should add the enthusiasm and willingness of students to always wanting to excel in order to maintain their position. It also creates a healthy rivalry, because in each school many students are seeking to obtain a higher average in order to make their way among these young scholars who, year after year, fighting in the good way, to make shine in the zone the flame of the knowledge and of the expertise.

Since 2008, the FOKAL undertook a major urban revitalization project in Martissant, aiming to give to this zone a natural park with a botanical garden, a memorial, a cultural center and other services for the welfare of the local population. In order to better integrate this project within the community, the FOKAL, through its Office of Community implantation, initiated a series of activities to try to better understand the reality of the neighborhood, in which is included in this scholarship program. A testimony of the will of the FOKAL to achieve a real revitalization of Martissant.
