Haiti - Politic : The CEP lay off all employees and partners of the BEC

Pierre-Louis Opont, the Director General of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) inform the public in general, the partners involved in the electoral process and employees of the Communal Electoral Offices (BEC) in particular, that the totality of the wages due to the latter is available and that they can claim it in their Departmental Electoral Offices (BED) respective.

He informed the parties concerned, that for budgetary reasons, the Council is obliged to lay off all the members of the BEC, pending the resumption of electoral activities and the new fiscal year.

Stating that the paychecks will be delivered to the person concerned, after the presentation of material in their possession, the inventory of furniture and equipment left at the local of the BEC, and the report on the use of funds that were available to them.

Last minute : Sunday, Pierre Louis Opont was prevented from flying when he wanted to go to the United States to visit his family. The Director of the CEP, said he was surprised by this decision, claiming to have informed the authorities of this movement, several weeks in advance, a trip that was part of his annual vacation.
