Scheduled for Monday, October 11, 2021, the hearing at the Port-au-Prince Court of Appeal of "political" prisoners, including former deputy Arnel Bélizaire, has been suspended and postoned to Monday, October 18. One of the defendants’s lawyers, Me Arnel Rémy, said he had filed a request for provisional release on behalf of the detainees. The prisoners Pierre killick Cémélus, Fleuret Jean Pierre (Job), Paul Joanel (Babas), Garry Philémon and Makenton Ésteril, assisted by a battery of lawyers, including Me André Michel, were present during this hearing.
4 racketeers arrested
On Monday, October 11, individuals who extorted money from a commercial company in Pernier (Port-au-Prince) were caught in the act by the National Police of Haiti (PNH). To cover their escape, the bandits opened fire on the police who responded immediately. Following the shooting, 4 bandits were arrested, an M4 assault rifle and a 9mm pistol were seized.
