Sunday October 17, 215th anniversary of the commemoration of the assassination of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, founder of the Fatherland, the situation was very complicated in Pont Rouge (an area under gang control). The acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry at the head of an official delegation was unable to come to the Emperor's monument to lay the traditional floral offering.

Heavily armed individuals did not hesitate to fire automatic gunfire to force the Prime Minister and his procession composed among others of members of the Government and an important security device to retreat and turn back.

The former policeman Jimmy Chérizier, alias "Barbecue" the leader of the Gang "G9" coalition who had announced that the government could not enter in Pont-Rouge on October 17, 2021, all dressed in white, surrounded by many hooded and heavily armed men savored his victory and did not hide his triumph in the face of the Government rout. Then he went to the Emperor's monument at the foot of which is a photo of the assassinated President Jovenel Moïse and proceeded to a floral deposit.

Meanwhile, the official procession retreated to the Haitian National Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH) for the traditional ceremony. Prime Minister ai Ariel Henry accompanied by Minister of Justice Liszt Quitel and other members of the Government, deposited two floral offerings, one at the Hôtel de la Patrie (museum where the remains of the Emperor rest) and the another in the public square of Marchand Dessalines, in memory of the commemoration of his assassination perpetrated by the enemies of the Nation on October 17, 1806.

"On the occasion of the 215th anniversary of the assassination, at Pont Rouge, of the illustrious founder of the nation, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, I have just deposited, in memory of the Emperor, a floral offering, at the Altar of the Fatherland where his imperishable remains lie " declared the Prime Minister on his Twitter account followed after the floral offering in the public square of Marchand Dessalines of a second message " To commemorate the 215 years of the assassination of the Emperor Jacques I, this visionary who nourished the majestic dream of freedom and progress, I made a floral offering on the public square of Marchand Dessalines, the first capital of the free and independent"

Remember that since 2018 no official commemoration has been carried out at Pont Rouge.
