Haiti - UEH FLASH : Two examination centers attacked and ransacked by armed individuals

Very early Saturday, October 16, 2021 hooded and armed individuals took over the premises of two passing exam centers for the finalization of the 2019-2020 academic year of non-resident students of the School of Law and Economics of Gonaïves (EDSEG), namely Lycée Marie Jeanne and the Lycée du Cent Cinquantenaire.

"These individuals fired shots, caused panic, endangered the health and lives of hundreds of students, supervisors, supervisors, principals who were taking the exams. Chanting slogans commensurate with their offense and those of their sponsors, they hit a Center official and students. They ransacked and destroyed the main barrier of the Marie Jeanne high school and set fire to the entrance to the centers."

The Rectorate strongly condemns this "unspeakable" behavior of individuals who claim to be students. Legal proceedings will be brought against the troublemakers and their sponsors and recalls that "these acts occur a week after the de facto Director of the EDSEG, Me Octelus Dorvilien, spoke out publicly and made threats against the holding of these exams. These threats have been escalated by a group of so-called students, known agitators, and beneficiaries of all the benefits to which the operation of EDSEG brings."

The rectorate reaffirms its desire to put an end to the practices of selling places for admission exams, issuing fraudulent academic documents, evaluations outside the most elementary principles that characterize the EDSEG over the past ten years. Even if this perspective pushes their supporters to the most unimaginable violence and mobilizes the most unthinkable characters https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-31956-icihaiti-gonaives-school-of-law-and-economics-reminder-of-the-ueh.html

He took the opportunity to salute the courage and the will of the center managers, supervisors and students regularly registered for this evaluation who nevertheless resisted until very late in the afternoon despite the various attempts of the troublemakers.

The Rectorate reminds everyone that the previously planned subjects that could not have been completed will be rescheduled for next weekend.
