Haiti - Insecurity : 4 tanker drivers kidnapped in Martissant

On Monday in Martissant 7, heavily armed individuals kidnapped four tanker drivers who had just loaded fuel at the Thor oil terminal (Carrefour), the Varreux Terminal (70% of Haiti's storage capacity) in Cité Soleil, being always inaccessible, under the control of heavily armed men of the coalition of "G9 and allied" Gangs

2 of the trucks were intended for the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, and were to supply industries, said the National Association of Petroleum Products Distributors (ANADIPP), which is angry faces these kidnappings, despite the security guarantees of the Government "Appropriate measures were not taken and this is what happened" recalling that we must not forget that setting up a secure corridor to access the Thor terminal is not enough, because tank trucks are once charged must cross the dangerous area of Martissant controlled by armed gangs.

The four tankers are immobilized in Martissant and secured by armored police vehicles, however, no driver so far is ready to pick up these fuel trucks despite the police presence.

It would not be surprising if professional associations linked to the petroleum sector would announce another strike to protest the Government’s inability to end the criminal activities of gangs and effectively ensure the safety of their members.
