Haiti - Insecurity : Kidnapping of feminist activist Novia Augustin

Friday, December 3, 2021, in the evening, armed individuals kidnapped in Delmas 75, the women's rights activist Novia Augustin, leader of the Federation of Women's Organizations for Equal Human Rights (FEDOFEDH) and of the Organization "Refuge des Femmes".

She is also one of the people who must choose a representative of women in the next Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to be set up by Prime Minister a.i. Henry.

The kidnappers would demand 150,000 US dollars for his release

Sofia Loréus, Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights (MCFDF) learned with great indignation of the kidnapping of Novia Augustin, an activist active in the fight to promote and defend the rights of women in Haiti.

Minister Loréus vigorously condemns this kidnapping and urges the kidnappers to release Novia Augustin as soon as possible.

In addition, the Minister calls on the police and prosecutors to work to ensure the safety of every citizen and in particular of women who are always the most vulnerable in these acts.
