Haiti - FLASH : Launch of the construction of the technological fence along the Haitian border

Sunday, February 20, 2022, almost a year after the announcement by Dominican President Luis Abinader of the construction of a technological fence along the border with Haiti hhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33130-haiti-flash-president-abinader-announces-the-construction-of-a-double-fence-at-the-border.html , Abinader will proceed in the Province of Dajabón to launch the construction works of this technological fence.

This border infrastructure, a mixture of physical construction and electronic technology, will extend over a length of 190 kilometers out of the 391 km of the border with Haiti. A double fence will be built in the most conflicting sections and a simple one in the other sections.

This fence, the cost of which is estimated at 100 million US dollars -millions-de-dollars.html will be reinforced at the surveillance level, among other things, by motion sensors, facial recognition and night vision cameras, radars and thermal detectors to prevent any illegal entry into Dominican territory.

So far the Dominican authorities have not revealed the name of the firm that won the tender for the construction of this fence.

Recall that an electronic border pilot project was tested in the Province of Monte Cristi, carried out by the Israeli firm "Rafael Advanced Defense Systems" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32908-haiti-flash-the-dominican-republic-will-test-an-israeli-system-of-electronic-border.html
