Haiti - Gang war : The PNH in the combat zone
Thursday, April 28, the 4th consecutive day of clashes between the "400 Mawozo" and "Chen Mechan" gangs at the north of the capital, intense automatic weapon fire was reported throughout the day

That same day, Roosevelt Zamor, the Government Commissioner of Croix-des-Bouquets said that special units of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) continued their operations in the plain of the cul de sac, [with the help armored vehicles], particularly in the Butte Boyer area with a view to putting armed bandits out of harm's way and clearing the barricades of the main roads in order to allow traffic to resume.

At the same time, traffic resumed timidly on Thursday at the Santo road towards the Marassa crossroads.

Patrols crisscross the main roads and certain secondary roads to try to reassure the terrified residents who are holed up in their homes. The PNH invites the population to remain calm and undertakes to multiply its interventions to restore order and public peace.

Following the bloody clashes between rival gangs, particularly in the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac, Croix-des-Missions and Santo, the Working Group on Security (GTS), a think tank on insecurity, made up of experts in security, human rights, the private sector, the trade union sector, the religious sector, the academic sector, the diaspora and grassroots associations of civil society, with the mission of proposing possible solutions that can help resolve the problem of insecurity in Haiti, asks the Prime Minister to declare a state of security emergency for a period of one month throughout the territory.

Also the day before, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, while commenting on the situation in Haiti before a US Senate Committee, said that Haiti had "a long way to go and that crime and violence are a problem. fundamental.".
