Haiti - Politic : Launch of the activities of the celebration of agriculture and labor

Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Museum of the Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH), took place the ceremony to launch the activities and festivities of May 1st, Agriculture and Labor Day in the presence of the Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henrty and among others Ministers Charlot Bredy (Agriculture), Odney Pierre Ricot (Social Affairs), members of the High Staff of the Armed Forces of Haiti, the National Police of Haiti, civil service executives, members of the diplomatic and consular corps , representatives of the private business sector, the agricultural sector and workers.

In his speech for the occasion, the Head of Government declared :

"The date of May 1st is imbued with deep symbolism and constitutes a living landmark, an inexhaustible source of solidarity and fraternity for all sectors of national life.

I also want to honor these brave day laborers and workers who get high and use their hard work to strengthen industrial production.

As part of May 1st, I unite my voice with that of the members of my government to pay solemn tribute to the hundreds of thousands of workers in the land who feed millions of Haitian families.

We continue to believe that agriculture represents one of the main sectors capable of unlocking the nation's economic growth potential, reducing income disparities, migration flows, stabilizing the gourde and reducing inflation.

My Government intends to promote, in this context of planetary crisis, the development of an agriculture of opportunity, based on the natural capacities of our ecosystems to produce healthy and nutritious food.

Let us turn these shocks that destabilize our economy into opportunities to strengthen our agriculture and reduce our dependence on external markets.

My government reiterates its irreversible commitment to work to facilitate access to sustainable and profitable employment while making security the main strategy.

Let's act together to support agriculture and employment for more security."

In his remarks, the Minister Charlot Bredy, said he was convinced that the agricultural sector plays an important role in the economy and the overall development of the country. He also took the opportunity to salute the efforts of farmers who participate in improving the food and nutritional condition of the population.

For his part, the Minister Odney Pierre Ricot, considered this day as a moment of reconciliation reiterating the commitment of the Government to improve the working conditions of workers and to ensure the rights of workers.

Note that the Folk Ballet of the National Theater of Haiti, had the privilege of performing two dance shows for the enjoyment of the public on the occasion of this May 1 launch, but also to celebrate the International Day of Dance (April 29).
