Haiti - World U20 Indonesia 2023 : Haiti eliminated by Jamaica [2-1] (Video)
Sunday June 26, 2022, as part of the qualifying phase of the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) counting for the Men's U-20 World Cup Indonesia 2023 and also for the Olympic Games of Paris 2024; our Grenadiers U-20 dressed in blue, under the direction of the Haitian coach Angelo Jean Baptiste, on the lawn of the Metropolitan Olympic Stadium of San Pedro Sula in Honduras, faced in the 1/8 finale the "Reggae Boyz" of Jamaica.

Satisfied with the overall performance of our Grenadiers who had brought back a draw (0-0) against Mexico, coach Angelo Jean Baptiste, renewed the same eleven for this match against Jamaica.

In the first period the "Reggae Boyz" seized the Grenadiers, Jahmari Clarke taking advantage of the error of the Haitian goalkeeper sends the ball into the back of the net and opens the scoring at 3'in favor of Jamaica [1-0] .

At 25' on a foul by Fernando Cicéron (the Captain of the Grenadiers), the Salvadoran referee Ivan Barton, punished him severely by expelling him without even consulting the Video Assistant Referees (VAR)

Despite the numerical inferiority, Steevenson Jeudy with a powerful and precise header sends the ball into the back of the nets of the "Reggae Boyz" bringing the score to equality [1-1]

Subsequently, our Grenadiers missed a few opportunities to take the advantage.

At 75' the Salvadoran referee expulsed the defender Pierre Duckens Sanchez.

At 9 against 11 this expulsion removes all hope for the Grenadiers to take the advantage and they give in despite themselves, the winning goal to Jamaica shot at 83' by Tarick Ximines [2-1].

The Haitian selection is therefore eliminated from the competition and will not compete in the 2023 U-20 World Cup or the 2024 Paris Olympics. One liked to dream of what our young and talented Grenadiers could have done if they had had enough preparation time...
