Haiti - Education : The Ministry announces changes this year in school programs 26/08/2022 11:42:35
"Creole : language of instruction until the last year of secondary school. We are advancing step by step on the multilingual school based on Creole. The National Curriculum Commission will continue to assess how Haitian students can start earlier with English and Spanish. This requires a lot of reform in the way we teach languages and the training and tools for teachers," explains the Ministry Recalling that "This year 100% of the students of the new secondary baccalaureate had the obligation to compose in Creole subjects and to produce a work in Creole, unlike the traditional Rhéto-Philo school which was only in French." Preschool : languages of instruction: Creole; languages taught - 1st fundamental cycle (1-2): languages of instruction: Creole; languages taught: Creole, French 1st fundamental cycle (3-4): languages of instruction: Creole, French; languages taught: Creole, French 2nd fundamental cycle (5-6): languages of instruction: Creole, French; languages taught: Creole, French 3rd basic cycle (7-8-9): languages of instruction: Creole, French; languages taught: Creole, French, English, Spanish Secondary (10): languages of instruction: Creole, French; languages taught: Creole, French, English, Spanish.
