![]() Haiti - Dom. Republic : Haiti imported $674.2 million worth of goods in 7 months 13/09/2022 10:12:23
The products that Haiti has formally purchased are mainly cotton fabrics (for manufactures), portland cement, wheat flour, soybean oil, non-cellular ethylene polymer sheets and strips, cardboard or corrugated cardboard boxes, crockery and other kitchen utensils, among others. The other products which account for more than half of purchases (54.1%) correspond to basic foodstuffs. An analysis report by the consulting firm DASA, prepared for the Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo) indicates that during the first half of 2022, exports to Haiti increased sharply by 157 million, a variation of +30, 6% compared to the previous year. Note that exports to Haiti remain overwhelmingly in favor of the Dominicans, as Haiti imports 97.64% of goods from the neighboring country and exports only 2.4% of its goods to the Dominican Republic. If the export figure for Haiti may seem significant, it must be put into perspective and remember that this amount represents only 9.17% of the 7 billion 388 million dollars exported worldwide by the Dominican Republic over this same period. By way of comparison, in the month of July 2022 alone, the neighboring Republic exported goods worth more than a billion dollars to the world. SL/ HaitiLibre
