Haiti - Education : Back to school defeated

Back to school planned and maintained by the Ministry for October 3rd, 2022 despite the crisis https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37793-haiti-flash-d-day-back-to-school-maintained-but-at-high-risk.html (after a first postponement https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37497-haiti-flash-date-of-the-start-of-the-2022-2023-school-year-postponed-official.html did not take place, defeating the climate of fear and violence that reigns both in Port-au-Prince and in the provinces, demonstrations, insecurity, lack of fuel, public transport and roadblocks on many many roads...

In the capital, all activities were paralyzed due to lack of fuel, among other things, for a fourth consecutive week... Only a few rare students in uniform were noticed in the streets seeming to be in a hurry to return home.

Private and public schools and colleges have kept their doors closed and no one knows when they will reopen...

Even Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education did not make his traditional back-to-school speech... The Minister's calls for respect for the "right to education of all children in all circumstances", recognized by the Conventions international agreements ratified by Haiti have had no effect.

Parents and teachers criticize the Government, which has done nothing to allow schoolchildren to return to school in complete serenity and which they consider responsible for the crisis, wonder when the next school year will take place.

In the meantime it is the children, who, deprived of the bread of knowledge, are taken hostage.
