Haiti - Politic : No vacation for Parliamentarians

The second ordinary session of the 49th Legislature closed Monday, immediately followed of the opening of a third extraordinary session within the framework of the process of ratification of the Prime Minister-designate, Dr. Gary Conille, at the request of the Executive. 85 parliamentarians responded present at the appeal.

To make it clear that the Group of 58 deputies (G58) is the new majority, the Deputies of this group have threatened, although present in the diplomatic room of the Lower House, to not take part to the the appeal before finally agreeing to be present and provide the quorum necessary for the opening of the session in the National Assembly.

Rodolphe Joazile, the President of the National Assembly said that 12 sessions (meetings) were held in the Senate and six in the House of Deputies during the second session, attributed this low number to the lack of government.

In his opening statement of this third extraordinary session, Rudolph Joazile has asked his colleagues of the two chambers to to overcome their personal interests and to privilege the political compromise... and invited the Special Commission in charge of analyzing the record of Prime Minister-designate, Dr. Gary Conille to work quickly.
