Crisis : Washington optimistic
Washington is optimistic about securing a UN Security Council resolution and finding nations to lead a task force in early November to address the humanitarian crisis in Haiti, Assistant Secretary of State Brian Nichols said Wednesday. 2 months to subdue the gangs
If the government really had the will to subdue the gangs, two months would be enough, says Colonel Himmler Rébu, former Secretary of State for Public Security.

UN #2 concerns
The Number 2 of the UN in Haiti, Ulrika Richardson, is concerned about the brutal and worrying increase in cholera and specifies that insecurity and the fuel crisis are complicating the situation. Ms. Richardson who visited cholera centers welcomed the Haitian response to the epidemic and highlighted the important role played by the UN on the ground.

Disabled Grenadiers honored
On Wednesday UNFPA Haiti in solidarity with the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH) honored the Grenadiers following their participation in the World Cup in Turkey. It was an opportunity for the institutions to thank the Grenadiers for their magnificent promotions in the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). It was an opportunity for the Secretary of State, Mr. Génard Joseph, to thank the partner who accompanied the team which was able to win the World Cup.
